Disaster Prevention and Welfare on the Front Lines: Learning from Italy's Approach to the "Present" and "Future"
Based on the response to past disasters and the current revision of the Disaster Countermeasures Basic Act, we will consider future preparations for major disasters, actions to be taken when disasters occur, and the operation of evacuation shelters, focusing on welfare aspects. In addition, we will learn about Italy's disaster relief system, which is similar to Japan's in that it is a country prone to earthquakes, but has developed a rational system of disaster relief that is renowned throughout the world. We will also deepen our understanding of the challenges Japan is facing and the form of disaster relief that is required.
