Overview: Looking ahead to 2040, demand for long-term care services is expected to rise due to the growing population of people aged 85 and older who have complex medical and long-term care needs, while the rapid decline in the working-age population is expected to exacerbate labor shortages. In this context, it is crucial to further promote initiatives to improve productivity—such as the use of ICT and other long-term care technologies—at long-term care facilities and local governments in order to build a sustainable long-term care delivery system while maintaining and improving the quality of care services. In this presentation, we will provide the latest information on care DX-related initiatives being promoted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in collaboration with relevant organizations, including support for the utilization of care information infrastructure, the Care Plan Data Integration System, and care technologies such as AI.
